Larsen McDowell is an artist based in New York City, working mainly in watercolours. She studied oil painting at college in New Orleans, but when she moved to New York City, space constraints meant watercolours became his medium of choice. She has been working from her desk in her living room as a full-time artist for eight years.

Working in watercolours means that there is no erasing or painting over things, so it forced a slowing down and consideration before every mark. Coming from a creative family, McDowell finds daily inspiration in New York, and describes her work as colourful, imperfect and happy.
